image Hey for the comment about the resurrection of Christ being on Sunday. It was! He arose on the third day after the crucifixion. We are use to the bible including the day and night, but it was actually him arising on day three. First day he was buried(Friday), second day was the Sabbath(Saturday), and then he arose Sunday the first day of their week!
Mark 16:9
Now when Jesus "was risen early" the "first day" of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom he had cast seven devils.
Mark 9:31
31For he taught his disciples, and said unto them, The Son of man is delivered into the hands of men, and they shall kill him; and after that he is killed, "he shall rise the third day".
Mark 16:1-4
1And when the sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, had bought sweet spices, that they might come and anoint him.
2And "very early in the morning" the first day of the week, they came unto the sepulchre at the rising of the sun.
3And they said among themselves, Who shall roll us away the stone from the door of the sepulchre?
4And when they looked, they saw that the stone was rolled away: for it was very great.

image Hi Orin33 I am a Protest believer of many years and i just want to my two cents to this discussion. 1 Tim 3:15 tells us the Church and not Scripture is the "pillar and foundation of truth." The Apostles Creed, which in its earliest form predates the canon of Scripture, tells us the the Apostles and early Church Fathers believed in the "communion of saints". The real answer to your question lies in the Apostolic Authority given to to Peter and passed on to his sucessors. What they bind on earth is bound and what they loose is loose. The real question you are asking is not about prayer but it is about authority and submitting to it. God Bless.
